2007 Trespass Cabernet Franc
St. Helena, Napa Valley

The nose of this ’07 springboards right into a juicy, fumy and upfront array of warm, ripe cherry preserves, strawberry, cedar and allspice.  The layers of barrel vanillin really push the aromatics out front.  Cabernet Francs aren’t always fortunate enough to smell like this one does.  Not a hint of earth or the typical Franc vegetal aromas.

This pleasing wine delivers on the palate as well.  The front end is loaded with bright bing cherry and spicy black fruits.  There are also intriguing hints of tobacco and black pepper that show well for this noble varietal.  The structure and underlay are firmly supported with ample tannin and balanced acidity.

This is certainly the finest Cabernet Franc yet to be produced from the Trespass Vineyard and should age well for 8 to 12 years or more.
