2009 Trespass Cabernet Franc

The aromatic start to the 2009 Trespass Cabernet Franc is explosive!  Warm black fruits, oak vanillin and an exotic raciness to a red I haven’t seen in a long time, especially not from a Cab Franc.  A few minutes after opening this opulent red tapers down to softer aromas of maraschino cherry and fruitcake.  The mouth is full and voluptuous.  That is a word I haven’t used in years.  It is very silky and round.  The tannins are beautiful where this wine begins to meet the back palate.  Further flavors of briar and hints of soil spring to the middle as well.  The finish is fabulous and drawn out.  — Kirk Venge
