2008 Trespass Rendezvous
St. Helena, Napa Valley

The 2008 Rendezvous is one of the finest wines to emanate from the Trespass Vineyard since the coveted 2006 Merlot.  This wine will remain entrenched in this winemaker’s mind for the history of the vineyard.

This wine is all there.  The color is black and beautiful.  The aroma is dense and brooding.  The palate is layered with ripe tanning and smooth acidity with plenty of future to come.  I really love this wine and cannot wait to revisit it in 4 to 6 years.

The nose is full of crushed flowers, light herbs, dried cherry, blue fruit preserves and barrel smoke.  The scent continues to waft from the glass as this wine rises above cellar temperature.  There is no lack of presence in entry, middle or finish with this wine.  The black fruit and sturdy tannin of this reserve blend reach way out past a minute and more on the finish.

This is a classic example of blending to the best of the vineyard and vintage.  Cellared correctly, I believe this blend will be enjoyed 12 to 14 years or longer.
